We offer a range of services and support including play therapy. Play Group enables children with complex health needs to participate in childhood play activities through the development of individualised play plans and the delivery of play groups which provide opportunities for play and connectedness between children, their families, and other Hannah’s House families.
Hannah’s House is seeking Child and Family Services Volunteers for our Play Group Sessions in both Northern and Southern Suburbs from February 2025. Our Volunteers will be asked to commit to attending weekly or fortnightly play sessions for 4hrs on a Friday or Wednesday will include the set up and packing away of equipment.
Responsibilities for the Child and Family Services Volunteers will include:
- Assisting with the development of individualised play plans which focus on the skills of children to develop their physical, emotional, cognitive, social and communication needs.
- Administration duties in regard to planning play events and sessions, including the planning and attendance of fundraising events.
- Maintain accurate participation records for all play events, including participation data, number of play plans developed, and attendance and feedback from play groups.
- Assist with conducting regular evaluations and feedback with parents of Hannah’s House clients to measure impact of the play program.
- Additional tasks may be asked of the Child and Family Services Volunteers dependant on upcoming events / trips.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Display a high level of courtesy and kindness in all communications
- Comfortable working in a small team environment and being flexible and adaptable
- A genuine desire to support children with complex needs and disabilities
- National Police Clearance
- Valid Woking with Children check (or ability to obtain)
- Volunteer NDIS Worker screening check (or ability to obtain)
- Required to be Australian Citizen or hold relevant Australian work rights
Desirable:
- Accredited CPR Certificate
- Accredited Manual Handling Certificate
